Care for UNT & TWU Students — We Accept UnitedHealthcare Student Resources
The student health plans at UNT and TWU are UnitedHealthcare plans that run on the Choice Plus network — and Evolve Health is in-network with Choice Plus. That means real, off-campus primary care just minutes from both universities, with clinicians who can become your regular care team while you are in Denton.
Verifying your coverage is easy: bring your insurance card and photo ID, and with your date of birth we can check your plan and confirm you are in-network before your visit — so you can book with confidence.
What is UnitedHealthcare Student Resources?
If you bought the student health plan through your school, your coverage is a UnitedHealthcare plan. UnitedHealthcare's student-plan brand is UnitedHealthcare Student Resources (UHCSR), and the plans at both the University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University are administered by Academic HealthPlans (AHP) — the company behind the myahpcare.com enrollment portals where you enrolled or waived coverage.
Here is the part that matters when you need a clinician: those student plans use the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus network, and Evolve Health is in-network with Choice Plus. You are not limited to the campus health center — you can book with us for everyday care, keep the same clinic all four years, and still be covered when the campus center is booked out or closed. Our full UnitedHealthcare coverage page has the details.
Check your cardTwo-minute check before you book
Look at the front of your insurance card. If it says UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus, you are in the network we accept — book away. If your card shows a different network name, call us at (940) 257-2002 and we will help you verify before you book, so you know your price up front. Either way, bring:
- Your insurance card (a photo of it on your phone works — your digital ID card is in the UHCSR app)
- A photo ID
- Any school forms you need completed (physicals, TB screening, immunization records)
Care students come to us for
- Same-day sick visits — colds, flu, strep, UTIs, stomach bugs — seen today, in person or by video; also $75 flat if you are paying cash
- TB screening — required for many incoming international students; bring your school paperwork
- Vaccines & immunizations — catch up on school-required shots and flu vaccines
- STI testing & treatment — private, straightforward testing and treatment
- Birth control — consults and ongoing management with a clinician
- Sports & school physicals — for athletics, programs and school requirements
- Mental health care — support for anxiety, stress, sleep and mood, in person or by telehealth
- Annual physicals — a yearly check-in that catches problems while they're minor
Not on the student plan? Still covered
On a parent's plan? Very common — and we are in-network with most major plans, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, Aetna, Humana and Ambetter. See the full list of plans we accept, or call us and we will check your card.
No insurance right now? Our self-pay sick visit is $75 flat, and we always tell you the price before you are seen.
Can't get across town? Many follow-ups and common concerns can be handled by telehealth video visit from your dorm or apartment, anywhere in Texas.

Student insurance FAQs
Does my UNT or TWU student insurance work off campus?
Yes. The UNT and TWU student health plans are UnitedHealthcare plans (UnitedHealthcare Student Resources) administered by Academic HealthPlans, and they use the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus network. Evolve Health is in-network with Choice Plus, so you can be seen at our Denton clinic — not just at the campus health center. Bring your insurance card and a photo ID, and call (940) 257-2002 if you want us to verify your card first.
What if I am on my parents' insurance instead?
Plenty of our student patients are. Evolve Health is in-network with most major plans — including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Ambetter and more. See the full list on our insurance page or call (940) 257-2002 and we will check your card before you book.
I am an international student — can I get my TB screening at Evolve Health?
Yes. TB screening is one of our regular services, and many incoming international students at UNT and TWU need it as part of enrollment. Bring your school paperwork and a photo ID, and tell us when you book that the visit is for a school TB screening so we can have the right forms ready.
What if I do not have any insurance?
You can still be seen. Self-pay sick visits are $75 flat , and we will always tell you the price of a visit before you are seen. Ask about self-pay pricing for other visit types when you call.
Do I need a referral from the campus health center?
Choice Plus is an open-access network, so members can generally book primary care directly without a referral. Your plan's cost-sharing still applies, and plan rules can differ, so check your card or call us at (940) 257-2002 and we will help you verify before you book.
